A modern garden room extension in Edinburgh West End

ARCHITECTURE PORTFOLIO EDINBURGH

Capital A celebrated its 15th anniversary at the beginning of 2024. In that time I worked on over 235 projects, from modest internal alterations to award-winning house extensions and even a couple of new build homes.

Over time the projects became more complex and the sites more challenging. Listed buildings and conservation areas now make up a significant proportion of the work. Almost every internal alteration project involves modernising and upgrading the existing roofs, windows, heating, electrics and drainage in older buildings across Edinburgh. It pays to get the basics rights before adding high-quality house extensions.

I do not impose a design style on clients and their homes. The look and feel of any house extension is the result of a long and detailed design process where the client is central to the decision-making. Some properties, and their owners' lifestyles, mean that a contrasting modern house extension is the right move.

Spending time outdoors in a private garden is a privilege in Edinburgh and not just because of the weather. I design garden room extensions that integrate with the existing site and create external spaces which the client can be proud of.
