Capital A has built a reputation for designing great contemporary house extensions and modern interiors. Our work has been recognised by the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland, Scottish Design Awards, Urban Realm, Homes & Interiors Magazine and Build Magazine. We have a track record of delivering complex projects on challenging sites.
The majority of our projects are in Edinburgh, altering and extending existing buildings. There are few opportunities to build a new house in the city, so we are looking for a new challenge.
Planning to Build a House
If you are thinking of building a modern self build home in Scotland, the first step is finding a site. Before agreeing to buy a site it is vital you contact Capital A to discuss its potential. What can seem like a straightforward plot could fall foul of technical issues like ransom strips, visibility splays or porosity tests.

Designing a New House
Capital A focus on modern Architecture and have built up a wealth of expertise producing minimalist designs. We take on a limited number of projects each year in order to focus on producing hight quality modern buildings.
If you want a house that is conventional, traditional or ‘in keeping’ the project wont be suitable for us. If you want an uncompromising and contemporary home then Capital A will work tirelessly to make it happen.
