The most satisfying aspects of running my own Architectural Practice, is giving new life to older buildings and helping people to enjoy their homes more fully.
I completed this house extension project in December 2010, just in time for the client to celebrate Christmas. The project comprises a new porch to the front of the houses and a one-storey wrap around extension to the side and rear containing an entrance hall, shower room, utility room and an open plan kitchen and dining. The existing living / dining room was split in two; one half became part of the new open plan living area, the other half formed a new bedroom.
I provided a full service for this project.
from the initial feasibility study to Contract Management during construction. The extension was built by S. Ewing and Sons.
The project was delayed by 13 days during construction due to extremely heavy snow. The project final cost was £46,000 + VAT, not including the kitchen, feature radiator or patio doors, which were supplied by the client.
The initial feasibility study was produced in June 2009. The planning application was granted in Spring 2010. The building warrant was granted in Summer 2010. Building took 14 weeks, including the two weeks lost to snow.
My services from start to finish took just over 90 hours. For more details see the Capital A website.
